Before I decided to do it for myself, I had no idea how to build a platform.

I would tell authors all the standard stuff — get press, be on social media, try to book some speaking engagements — but to be honest, I had no idea how to actually DO any of it.

But I learned — from my entrepreneurial clients who taught me about sales funnels, from my talking-head, thought-leader clients who secure tons of press, from clients with popular podcasts and huge social media followings, and from a client who totally business-coached me even though she didn’t have to when we were done talking about her book (thanks Rachel).

As a writer, I assumed that creating content would be my jam. I have 15 years’ worth of untapped publishing knowledge, after all. But what I realized, through business coaching with Rachel’s company, HelloSeven, was that I had underlying strengths that I could tap into to help me build that platform.

And so can you. When I took the StrengthsFinder assessment I was sort of skeptical. I love taking personality tests because I love to learn but never really thought that I could apply any of that information. But you can, and I did.

My core strengths are positivity, learning, woo, communication and achieving.

In other words, I’m one hell of a cheerleader.

I help entrepreneurs, experts and thought leaders create book proposals that sell to major publishers. I also run marathons, save senior dogs and love the Mets.
